The right to vote is an important component of participating in a democracy but many of the young people in our schools do not yet have that right. How can we best prepare and nurture the skills for democratic citizenship? What has youth civic participation looked like in the past and how can we apply these lessons today? Join a joint workshop from Facing History and Ourselves and Generation Citizen to examine youth civic engagement and what Choosing to Participate means for youth nationally and locally.
After this workshop, you will:
- Become part of the Facing History educator network, with access to a rich slate of educator resources, including units and lesson plans, study guides, and multimedia
- Be able to download publications and access some of our streaming videos through our online lending library
This workshop is intended for middle and high school teachers in the New York/New Jersey area region. NY participants will receive CTLE hours.
This workshop will be held via Zoom. Details for joining the Zoom meeting will be shared by email prior to the event.
