LA Upstander: Kimberly Garcia P.

Kimberly acts with inclusion in mind. She begins all classes with a greeting to all students. During class discussions she shows insight and sensitivity to others and is not shy about respectfully letting other students know if a comment was insensitive or hurtful. She participates actively when we have discussions on sexuality and gender identification.

Kimberly’s standing up has given other students reason to pause and think about how their response to something was insensitive and how to re-word their response to be more inclusive as well as sensitive to others. Her smile and positive attitude encourages others to be more mindful about how they interact with others as well.

Kimberly stands out because of her maturity and ability to be sensitive to other people. She is empathic and mature beyond her 13 years!
