LA Upstander: Prycilla M.

This year, our Student Upstanders group met weekly via Zoom every Friday at 8am. Prycilla always attends and is willing to share her ideas with everyone, but one of her best attributes is allowing others to also have a say and encouraging everyone in their individual passions.

Prycilla has also shown her passion for different advocacy projects in LA. She created an Instagram Post to promote the LA Mission (an organization working to end homelessness), which ended up sharing the post on their Instagram stories.  She also advocated for street vendors’ rights by creating an informational slide presentation, which she translated to Spanish on her own and presented to the school’s Student Upstanders group. Her advocacy also included reaching out to community organizations supporting street vendors. Her artwork was selected in a local art contest to be on one of the public street banners around Mid-City Los Angeles. Her art will now be seen by everyone in our community, which will help other students learn that taking risks can lead to amazing outcomes.
