This online, single-session professional development course, offered in collaboration with The Japan Society, prepares educators to teach about World War II and Japanese American Incarceration through a variety of approachable resources, including memoirs, film, photography and more. We will be joined by Dr. Mark Jones – Professor of History at Central Connecticut State University to examine the circumstances and events leading up to this turbulent point in history with a special focus on U.S.- Japan dynamics, and provide effective methods for introducing these difficult topics in the classroom. This course equips ELA, Social Studies and Humanities teachers with new interdisciplinary teaching strategies that reinforce literacy skills and historical understanding.

CTLE hours are available for this workshop.
