Corporate Partner Spotlight: International Paper

International Paper is committed to building a better future. They believe Facing History’s student-centered approach works to improve communities.

Facing History Corporate Sponsor

International Paper began their partnership with Facing History & Ourselves three decades ago, and has since fully embraced Facing History’s approach to teaching history and literature to middle and high school students. International Paper, an industrial packaging company of more than 38,000 people, has been a longtime funder of our All Community Read initiative. This program, featuring transformative personal narratives and events with marquee authors, brings powerful topics into classrooms and communities with texts including Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, Brown Girl Dreaming by Jaqueline Woodson, and this year’s Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist by Judith Heumann

The All Community Read program promotes literacy, explores issues of identity and belonging, and provides access to compelling and relevant books to students in under-resourced schools; it has brought together thousands of students and community members in Memphis area schools and across the US. Amy Grow, Global Citizenship Manager of Community Engagement and Executive Director of the Employee Relief Fund at International Paper, says that IP is proud to partner with Facing History to promote literacy and help students understand how individuals and groups can make a difference in their communities and broader society. "IP is committed to building a better future, and our support of Facing History's work with communities and schools gives me hope that this better future is possible."
