Donor Spotlight: Ancestry

Ancestry, a Facing History partner, is helping classrooms discover the past! Sign up for free access to historic records, webinars, and other resources.

For more than a decade, Ancestry has provided educators and students with free access to historic record collections through AncestryClassroom™. We are thrilled to announce our reinvigorated partnership with Ancestry®. In this next chapter, Ancestry and Facing History & Ourselves will collaborate to host engaging educator webinars and community dialogues, expand AncestryClassroom into new geographies, and develop refreshed classroom resources that complement the growing and diverse historical record collections on Ancestry.

We, along with Ancestry, are committed to continuing to provide educators and students with free access to primary sources and classroom materials that equitably honor and amplify diverse, and sometimes overlooked, stories and individuals throughout history. Because we believe that when students can see themselves represented in history, they believe they too can make history.

“By combining primary sources available on AncestryClassroom and Facing History & Ourselves’ robust educator resources, we will help more students understand how the choices made in the past can shape our present,” said Desmond K. Blackburn, PhD, CEO and President of Facing History & Ourselves. “Ancestry has been a strategic and impactful partner to Facing History these past 3 years and we are proud to continue this important work.”
