LA Upstander: Alexis A.

From the start of the year, the School Culture team launched a campaign called, “Uplifting our Community” providing all students with a forum to submit uplifting messages for other people in their school community. Alexis has consistently used the platform to transmit uplifting messages to those who have helped him during this time away from the physical campus. He submitted messages over the course of five months, thanking his peers for their leadership, their kindness toward others and their friendship. Alexis acknowledges the work that peers are putting in to make their senior year experience as memorable as possible, and he expressed his thanks for keeping the lines of communication open amongst peers. He has also used the platform to thank his English teacher for finding ways to connect with him, even in distance learning. Alexis has used the uplifting messages not only as a way to express himself but also as a way to help brighten others spirits, especially during these times. 

Knowing that words are very powerful, Alexis has used the power within his control to make a positive impact on those around him. Being vulnerable only serves to encourage others to express their thanks and gratitude for those that have supported them during these trying times. He is a true role model.
