LA Upstander: Ms. Jessica Guillaume

Ms. Jessica Guillaume has been an Upstander in the Valor Academy High School school community by volunteering to lead in-person small groups this Spring 2020. When instructional aides were presented with the opportunity to lead these groups, Jessica immediately stepped up, and has done an amazing job connecting with students. She has been great at making them feel supported as they continue online learning, but with her in-person support.

The impact of Ms. Guillaume standing up has been that the small group of students who come to campus for online learning have developed a connection with her and feel supported. She goes above and beyond and checks in with students during her lunch break, and even stays after classes are done to assist students that need help academically or simply want to check in.

Ms. Guillaume upstanding stands out because she was excited and invested in supporting the transition to in-person small group online learning at Valor Academy High School this semester.
