Join us for an interactive educator workshop in partnership with The ArQuives, Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ archives. In this online interactive workshop, educators will gain invaluable insights into trauma-informed and identity-affirming approaches to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, equipping them with practical tools and strategies for creating safe and affirming learning environments.
As we delve into the rich tapestry of Canadian 2SLGBTQIA+ histories, we'll also highlight the significance of archives in preserving and amplifying marginalized voices. Incorporating these histories and stories into our classrooms not only acknowledges the lived experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals today but also illuminates the vibrant and interconnected communities that persevered and advocated for their rights in the past.
The ArQuives works to preserve and make accessible Canadian 2SLGBTQIA+ histories and is the world's largest independent resource for those who strive for a future world where lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people are accepted, valued, and honoured.
Since 1973, The ArQuives has been acquiring and preserving material documenting 2SLGBTQIA+ history. Its mandate is to acquire, preserve, organize, and provide public access to information and materials, in any medium, by and about 2SLGBTQIA+ people, primarily produced in or concerning Canada.
The 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym encompasses Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and more. The “+” signifies inclusivity for individuals identifying as part of sexual and gender diverse communities, who use additional terminologies.
